The District 18-A champion Zephyr Bulldogs held the District 17-A fourth seed Lometa Hornets scoreless for a 12-minute stretch, including the entire second quarter, en route to a 66-24 bi-district playoff victory Monday night at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Leading just 16-9 after one quarter, Zephyr (26-7) extended the advantage to 37-9 by halftime, and 45-9 before Lometa halted a run of 29 consecutive Bulldogs points midway through the third period.
Zephyr also forced 21 turnovers on the defensive end, as the Bulldogs carried a 49-15 lead into the final period.
Karsen Floyd scored a team-best 13 points for the Bulldogs trailed by nine each from Rhett Williams and Reese Hamm, eight from Wyatt Stevens, seven from C.J. Byers, six apiece from Ethan Byers and Skyden Stoddart, three each from Cooper Walls and Chayden Woodcock, and two points from Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins.
The Bulldogs will face Huckabay in the area round of the playoffs later this week.
