Howard Payne University’s Armonie Ramey led all scorers with 23 points in a 96-66 Yellow Jacket loss to the University of Texas at Dallas Thursday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.
HPU’s Armonie Ramey scored a season and game-high 23 points with three steals. He was 8 of 16 from the field and 2 of 3 from behind the arc.
The Yellow Jackets struggled shooting in the first half connecting on 33.3% of their shots. HPU shooting improved to 46.4% in the second half but UT Dallas still outscored the Jackets 53-37 in the half to claim the 96-66 final.
UT Dallas was led by Hunter Stevens with 17 points followed by Kyle Poerschke with 16 points.
Howard Payne is now 3-15 overall and 1-10 in American Southwest Conference action. UT Dallas stands at 15-3 overall and 10-1 in league play. The Jackets will play next on Thursday, Jan. 26th in Abilene, Texas versus McMurry University at 7:30 pm.
