The two-time defending District 17-A champion Richland Springs Coyotes cruised to a bi-district championship Monday night at the Brownwood Coliseum with an 87-43 triumph over the third 18-A fourth-seed Gustine Tigers.
Richland Springs (19-4) led 21-11 after one quarter, stretched the advantage to 50-19 at halftime and carried a 76-27 cushion into the fourth period.
The Coyotes – who drained 10 three-pointers – received 23 points from Hutton Rogers, 15 from Shawn Wall, 13 apiece from Jayden Sutherland and Connor Womack, six apiece from Cohen Ethridge, Cody Martin, and Troy Kubin, three from Mark Pittman, and two points from Eli Hutchins.
Gustine was led by 12 points from Osyel Garcia, nine from Allen Lopez, eight from Gabriel Patino, five from Michael Garcia, four from Rapheal Gonzalez, and two points from Yahir Torquemala.
Richland Springs moves on to face either Lingleville or Walnut Springs, who square off at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hico.
