COLORADO CITY – The Class 2A Division I No. 5 Coleman Bluecats remained undefeated and advanced to the third round of the playoffs by eliminating the 2019 and 2020 Region I champion and state finalist Post Antelopes, 43-0, in area round playoff action Friday night.
Coleman (11-0) finished with 395 yards of total offense, including 301 rushing, and overcame a pair of turnovers, while giving up 203 yards – 102 passing and 101 rushing – to Post (5-7), with three takeaways.
Devinar Roberson rushed for a team-high 137 yards and two touchdown for the Bluecats, while Cort McFadden chipped in 74 yards and a trip to the end zone. Quarterback Jadin Jackson completed 3 of 6 passes – all touchdowns – for 94 yards, while also chipping in 45 yards on the ground.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Bluecats scored all the points they needed on a 25-yard sprint by Roberson 90 seconds into the second period.
Jackson then completed a 37-yard scoring toss to Denver Hunter at the 1:49 mark, then hit Roberson for a 41-yard touchdown with four seconds to go before intermission, stretching the lead to 20-0.
The Bluecats added three insurance touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a 25-yard carry by McFadden with 11:10 left, a 16-yard pass from Jackson to Braxton Smith at 10:53, and a 95-yard gallop by Roberson with 4:38 left in the game.
Coleman will square off against No. 7 Hawley (12-0) – a 40-22 winner over Sundown (8-4) Friday night – in the Class 2A Division I Region I semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday at Abilene Wylie.
