Brenna Welsh scored a season-high 15 points for Howard Payne University in a 60-44 Lady Jacket loss to the University of the Ozarks Thursday evening in conference play.
HPU’s Brenna Welsh pulled down a season and team-high 10 rebounds to go along with her game-high 15 points.
As a team, the Lady Jackets out-rebounded the Eagles 47-44 but it was 21 turnovers and 29.0% shooting from the field for Howard Payne that was the difference in the game.
Down 26-20 at the half, HPU’s offense did improve in the second half but 5 of 13 free-throw shooting by the Lady Jackets led to the 60-44 Ozarks final.
Ozarks was led by McKenzie Greeson with 13 points followed by three others with 11 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-15 overall and 0-10 in American Southwest Conference play. Ozarks stands at 7-10 overall and 4-6 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at home versus the University of Texas at Dallas at 1:00 pm.
