Defensive woes continued to plague the Brownwood Lady Lions as eight errors led to seven unearned runs as the Gatesville Lady Horns notched a 10-6 victory in District 6-4A softball action Tuesday night.
The loss was the eighth in a row for the Lady Lions (8-11, 0-3), who are still in search of their first league victory as the halfway point of the season comes next Tuesday, April 5 at Stephenville after a Friday night bye.
The Lady Lions erased a three-run deficit with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Gatesville (7-14, 1-1) answered with four runs in the fifth inning thanks to three errors, and three additional runs in the seventh inning after three first batters in the frame reached on miscues.
Annie-Klein Allgood finished with 10 hits and three earned runs allowed in seven innings, with one strikeout and two walks.
Allgood also led Brownwood’s eight-hit attack with three an RBI, while Chloe Walls, Cecilia Rodriguez, Tynlea Wilson, Chelsey Covey and Hailey Eisenhauer added one apiece. Walls, Rodriguez and Covey chipped in RBIs as well.
