The Brownwood High tennis team added two more victories to its season tally Saturday, sweeping a home doubleheader against Graham, 13-6, and Sweetwater, 18-1.
Against Graham, the victory was sparked by an undefeated effort in girls doubles action by the Lady Lions. Securing wins were the No. 1 team of Emma Delgado and Raylei Hickey (5-3, 4-0 over Jade Despapas and Olivia Buckley), the No. 2 duo of Claire Meinecke and Ashlyn Bundick (4-2, 4-0 over Stacey Gonzalez and Lauren White), and the No. 3 tandem of Anna Daniel and Ihana Figueroa (4-1, 4-0 over Reanna Brock and Lainey Herring).
The Lions added victories in two of their three doubles matches with wins collected by No. 1 River Prado and Tyler Mitchell (4-2, default over Barron Burrows and Jaydon Noyola) and No. 3 Eric Smith and Blake Hutchins (4-0, 4-0 over Silas Yoder and Paul Andrade).
Singles wins for the Lions belonged to No. 1 Prado (4-2, 4-0 over Noyola), No. 2 Mitchell (1-4, 5-4 [11-9], 12-10 over Luke Qualls), No. 4 Smith (4-2, 4-2 over Burrows), No. 5 Hutchins (4-2, 5-3 over Yoder), and No. 6 Andre Martinez (4-1, 4-0 over Andrade).
Notching singles victories for the Lady Lions were No. 3 Bundick (5-3, 4-1 over Buckley), No. 5 Figueroa (4-2, 4-1 over Brock), and No. 6 Daniel (4-0, 4-0 over Herring). No. 7 Avery Mair added a win (4-0, 4-2 over White) in a match that did not count toward the final tally.
Against Sweetwater, only one girls match took place as No. 1 Delgado picked up the win (7-2 over Sydney Ramirez). The rest of the girls matches were default wins for the Lady Lions.
In boys action, the Lions swept all three doubles matches led by No. 1 Prado and Mitchell (8-1 over Isaac Lotzenhiser and Danny Vang), No. 2 Wesley Goodrich and Eric Waldrop (8-5 over Brady Kilgore and Noah Dodd) and No. 3 Hutchins and Caleb Dietlin (8-0 over Bryan Rangel and Javier Molina).
Securing singles wins for the Lions were No. 1 Prado (8-1 over Tyler Ramirez), No. 3 Waldrop (8-5 over Lotzenhiser), No. 4 Smith (8-0 over Vicente Orduna), No. 5 Goodrich (8-3 over Kilgore) and No. 6 Hutchins (9-7 over Dodd). Also tallying wins in matches that didn’t count toward the final score were No. 7 Trine Baugh (8-3 over Rangel) and No. 8 Martinez (8-2 over Molina).
In the mixed doubles match, Brownwood notched a win by Smith and Hickey (8-5 over Ramirez and Ramirez).
The Lions and Lady Lions (4-2) will hit the courts again on Saturday, Aug. 19 as they venture to Snyder to battle both Levelland and Snyder.
