
The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions kicked off the spring tennis Friday with dual match against China Spring and Gatesville at the Brownwood High Tennis Courts.
Victorious against China Spring were the No. 2 boys doubles team of Andre Martinez and Aiden Oplotnik, who won 6-2, 6-2, and the No. 2 girls doubles team of Emory May and Amy Deechaleune, who tallied a 6-4, 6-1 triumph.
Brownwood had better luck against Gatesville later in the day as wins were claimed by Eric Smith in No. 1 boys singles (6-1, 6-4), Blake Hutchins in No. 2 boys singles (7-5, 6-2), Makenzie Williams in No. 1 girls singles (6-0, 6-2), Andrew Martinez and Trine Baugh in No. 1 boys doubles (6-2, 6-1), and Ashlyn Bundick and Anna Daniel in No. 1 girls doubles (6-4, 5-7, 10-2).
The Lions and Lady Lions will host another quad match at 8 a.m. Friday.
