Playing their first competitive matches since March, the Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions kicked off their 2020 team tennis season with a 16-3 thrashing of Graham Saturday at the Brownwood High courts.
“For the first match since March I thought we played very well,” said Brownwood High tennis head coach Crystal Blazek. Tennis usually competes in a team season in the fall and an individual season in the spring, but the individual season was called off due to COVID. “We had a really good week of practice,” Blazek added, “and now we have a short turnaround to get ready for Lake View.”
The Lions and Lady Lions will venture to San Angelo Lake View at 4 p.m. Tuesday seeking a 2-0 start to the season.
In Saturday’s victory over Graham, the Lady Lions won all nine of their matches.
