The Brownwood High tennis team bounced back from Thursday’s District 6-4A loss at Gatesville with a 13-6 league win over Lampasas Saturday at the BHS courts.
“That was a big win,” Brownwood High tennis head coach Crystal Blazek said. “Lampasas always has a good tennis program and I thought we came out ready to fight back after our showing against Gatesville. We have one more district match against Stephenville which will be another tight match.”
The Lions swept all three of Saturday’s doubles matches to pace the victory. Picking up wins were the No. 1 team of Mo Goff and Peter Le (6-4, 6-4 over Aguirre and Zmolik), the No. 2 duo of Julian Lares and Jacob Singleton (6-0, 7-6 [7-4] over Magill and Arellano) and the No. 3 tandem of Victor Hernandez and River Prado (6-4, 7-6 [7-3] over Burke and Shaw).
The Lady Lions added two doubles wins, which came from the No. 2 team of Victoria Ramos and Aishwarya Nigalye (6-2, 6-4 over Watson and Moyer) and the No. 3 duo of Labritney Pollard and Tatum Dehart (6-3, 4-6, 10-6 over Zapata and Sharkey).
In singles action, Lady Lions to tally victories were No. 2 Lillian Jonescue (6-0, 6-4 over Watson), No. 3 Ramos (6-0, 6-1 over Clements), No. 4 Nigalye (6-4, 6-2 over Moyer), and No. 5 Pollard (2-6, 6-4, 10-6 over Pronovast).
Collecting singles wins for the Lions were No. 1 Goff (6-1, 6-2 over Zmolik), No. 3 Hernandez (6-1, 6-4 over Magill), No. 4 Lares (6-0, 6-1 over Burke), and No. 6 Singleton (6-4, 6-3 over Shaw).
The Lions and Lady Lions (5-3, 2-1) visit Stephenville at 4 p.m. Thursday.
