The two-day District 6-4A track and field meet concluded at Gordon Wood Stadium Friday afternoon as the Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions combined to earn 32 berths in the area meet that will be held in Mineral Wells on April 14.
In the team standings, the Lady Lions finished in second place with 140 points – ahead of Glen Rose (102), Gatesville (81.33), and Lampasas (64.33) – while trailing district champion Stephenville (226.33).
The Lions placed third with 128 points, behind Stephenville (171) and Lampasas (166) while leading Gatesville (108) and Glen Rose (41).
The top four finishers in each event secure a berth in the area round.
Moving on as district champions the Lions are Zach Bond in the 110-meter hurdles (16.38), Jackson Yoder in the triple jump (40-5.75), and Jared Northcutt in the discus (150-11).
Jaylen Savage captured a district title for the Lady Lions in the high jump (5-0).
Earning runner-up finishes were the Lady Lions were Emma Stegemoller in both the 800 meters (2:27.83) and the 1600 meters (5:41.16), Kylie Morris in the triple jump (36-0.5), the 4×100 relay of Talia Clifton, Kinley Reeves, Jadie Sudderth and Kassidy Wooten (52.27), and the 4×200 relay of Alexandria Touhakis, Heaven Badillo, Emily Carnes and Morris (1:51.96).
Advancing with second-place finishes for the Lions were Micheal Felts in the 800 meters (2:05.22) and Toby Yeats in the 110-meter hurdles (16.54).
Coming in third for the Lions were Logan McKibben in the triple jump (39-9), Trent Loftin in the 110-meter hurdles (17.24), Jake Jetton in the 200 meters (23.48), Hunter Day in the 400 meters (53.0), the 4×100 relay of Yeats, Taylor Bessent, Nathan Wheelington and Brayden Daub (45.12), and the 4×200 relay of Jetton, Bessent, Wheelington and Jason Jackson (1:34.12).
Claiming third-place for the Lady Lions were Kynslee Walker in both the 400 meters (1:02.53) and the 800 meters (2:28.8), Naysa Leach in the 3200 meters (13:23.01), Becca Church in the girls 100-meter hurdles (16.91), Stegemoller in the girls pole vault (J8-6), and the 4×400 relay of Sudderth, Jayme Cottle, Stegemoller and Walker (4:18.48).
Punching their area ticket with fourth-place efforts for the Lady Lions were Leach in the 1600 meters (5:50.05), Clifton in the 100-meter hurdles (17.53), and Reeves in the 200 meters (27.99).
Advancing with fourth-place performances for the Lions were Felts in the 1600 meters (4:54.8), Loftin in the 300-meter hurdles (46.28), Wheelington in the 100 meters (11.93), Christian Kinzler in the high jump (J5-8), Jackson in the long jump (19-8.5), and Kris Hobbs in the boys shot put (43-3.5)
Also picking up team points for the Lady Lions with fifth-place performances were Morris in both the long jump (16-5.5) and 200 meters (28.07), Church in both the triple jump (33-9.25) and 300-meter hurdles (51.56), Cottle in the 100 meters (13.73), and Addison Strickland in the discus (91-8), and Ava Choate in the 400 meters (1:06.07).
Notching fifth-place efforts for the Lions were Caleb Nelson in the 3200 meters (11:59.62), and the 4×400 relay of Jackson, Day, Jetton and Bessent (3:40.98)
Brad Robinson placed sixth in the shot put (42-9) to add to a point to the Lions’ tally, as did Jackson in the 200 meters (25.26), Yeats in the 300-meter hurdles (47.78), and Nelson in the 1600 meters (5:12.5).
Finishing sixth for the Lady Lions were Reeves in the 100 meters (13.77), Chloe Adamez in the 400 meters (1:06.95), and Ava Brownlee in the 300-meter hurdles (53.05).
