On Thursday, April 28, 18 Brookesmith Elementary children, grades 1-3, presented the Living Wax Museum in the school library. Each child dressed the role of their future dream occupation and delivered a memorized presentation while spectators gathered round. In preparation for their monologue, each student researched the job or career of their choosing. They then designed a backdrop depicting actions and duties performed in their selected career field. Each station had a button above it. To listen to the monologue, guests merely pushed the button and the student began the presentation.
This exhibition was extremely informative for the approximately 35 parents, family and friends who attended. Reading Enrichment teacher Ms. Monica Edmondson planned the event and worked together with each child to prepare their material. These students gained valuable insights into their dream occupations and parents became more aware of the interests of their children.
