Brownwood News – A dog has tested positive for rabies in Brown County. The Texas Department of Health Services notified the Brown County Sheriff’s Department that a rabid skunk came in contact with the dog in the 800 block of FM 583 in May, Texas. The dog had a current rabies vaccination and received a booster following the encounter with the skunk. The dog is required to be quarantined for a period of 45 days.

Thursday, January 30, Lt. Pete Bastardo was dispatched to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center in regards to a person who wished to report fraud. Contact was made with a female who advised her name had been used to make a purchase through her son’s Amazon account. The woman’s daughter is being listed as a suspect.
On Friday, January 24, at approximately 12:00 pm, Deputy Burke was dispatched to Highway 183 South in Early. This was in reference to several cows that were out in the bar ditch of the highway.
On Thursday, January 30, at about 17:28 hours, Deputy Simpson responded to Cullins Street. This was in regards to criminal mischief. Deputy Simpson met with a man who advised his neighbor had thrown a knife, a shard of glass and a roof shingle in his back yard with his dog. A report was made.
On January 30, a report for Criminal Mischief was made at FM 3100 Early, Texas. This was for trailer tires that were slashed. A report was made.
