Our beautiful baby girl, Mckenzie “Mickey” Cox, age 18, of Zephyr received her wings to fly on Friday, November 4th.  Her services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood with Dan Chapman and Coach Don Hood officiating.  Burial will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery.  Family visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mickey was born on February 6, 1998 to Mechail and James Cox.  She was a lifelong resident of Zephyr and a graduate of the Brownwood High School Class of 2016.  She had just started her freshman year at Tarleton State University on a track scholarship.  Mickey was a Varsity Cheerleader her Junior and Senior years at BHS.  In her 18 short years of life Mickey lived it to the fullest.  She was not only beautiful, but smart and talented.  She had one of the biggest hearts and the brightest smile that would make a bad day better.  Everyone who met Mickey loved her.

Mickey is survived by her loving parents James and Mechail Cox, a brother Jaden Cox of Zephyr, grandparents, Sherry and Roger Cox of Early and Reba and B.G. Watson of Zephyr; two uncles David Sutton and wife Karen of Brownwood and Dennis Watson and wife Donna of Brownwood; two aunts, Amber Frerichs and husband Dale of Bangs and Tonya Holland and husband Ricky of Early.  She is also survived by her cousins, Taylor Sutton of Brownwood, Keisha Holland of Early, Kendra Holland of Early, Autumn Watson, J.J. Barron and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mickey had a love for animals and a love for helping.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Corrine T. Smith Animal Center or to Toys for Kids in Brownwood.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be shared with the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
