Brownwood News – The Brownwood City Council on Tuesday morning, March 10, approved to match funds on a grant replacing generators at Fire Station 2, City Hall and Round Mountain.

A requirement of the grant was to hold a Public Hearing.  Fire Marshal Buddy Preston, (shown in photo), made the presentation to City Council.

He noted that on November 13, 2019, City Manager Emily Crawford was contacted by Homeland Security Planner, Toby Virden, with West Central Texas Council of Governments, about an upcoming grant to equip critical infrastructure with generators.  City Staff met with Mr. Virden on December 9, 2019 to discuss and document the needs of the City of Brownwood.

Some of the areas in need of Emergency Generators are:  Fire Station #2 (generator has been out of service since 2018; Brownwood City Hall (no back up generator for computer servers); and Round Mountain (communication repeaters).

Should the City be approved for the grant the 25% match will cost the city a total of $10,248.85 for all locations.
