County Commissioners to Meet Monday Morning

Brown County Commissioners will meet at 9:00 am Monday, May 18, in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Brown County Courthouse.  The business agenda is shown below.

1. Declare a Quorum and Call Meeting to Order
2. Prayer
3. Citizen Comments
(All speakers will be required to adhere to the rules of procedure, conduct and decorum adopted by the Court on August 12, 2019. Any disruptive, abusive, obscene, or disrespectful behavior will be terminated immediately.)

4. Consideration and approval of minutes of May 11th, 2020.
5. Consideration and approval of any Treasurer’s/ Auditor’s Report.
6. Consideration and approval of payment of any bills needed

7. Consideration and approval of all appropriate action regarding the following:
A. Judge Stephen Ellis, 35th Judicial Court — Discussion and possible action regarding action items needed for the courthouse to accommodate non-jury and jury judicial proceedings
B. Judge Stephen Ellis, 35th Judicial Court-Discussion and possible designation of alternative court sites such as the Brownwood Coliseum or other locations for jury trials due to COVID-19. Discussion of potential agreements regarding the use of such alternative sites
C. Dr. Paul Lilly, Brown County Judge — Consideration and possible approval to arrange for a contractor or hire temporary personnel to deep clean the courthouse on a regular basis;
D. Dr. Paul Lilly, Brown County Judge — Consideration and possible approval to declare surplus property;
E. Dr. Paul Lilly, Brown County Judge — Consideration and possible approval to list for sale on gov.deals the surplus property;
F. Mr. Joel Kelton, Commissioner Pct. 2 – Consideration and possible approval of action regarding burn ban;
G. Mr. Joel Kelton, Commissioner Pct. 2 -Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the daily changing needs that may arise, any discussion or reports concerning needs or responses the County needs to take regarding the COVID-19 outbreak;
H. Mr. Joel Kelton, Commissioner Pct. 2 – Consideration and possible approval of any action needed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak;
I. Sharon Ferguson, County Clerk- Consideration and possible approval of installation of new counter-top and clear barrier in the County Clerk’s office to comply with CDC recommendations
J. Christine Pentecost, County Tax Assessor-Collector- Consideration and possible approval of installation of a clear barrier in the County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office to comply with CDC recommendations
K. Cheryl Jones, District Clerk– Consideration and possible approval of installation of a clear barrier in the District Clerk’s office to comply with CDC recommendations
L. Bob Contreras, Grants Coordinator-Unclaimed Property Capital Credits program and general grant update
M. Vance Hill, County Sheriff-Consideration and possible approval of employee changes
N. Vance Hill, County Sheriff- Presentation of jail report
