Brownwood News – The Texas Department of Public Safety has released more information on a one-vehicle accident that took the life of a Cross Plains man.
According to the report, the wreck was reported at 7:38 pm Friday, February 28. The location was three miles southwest of Cross Plains on State Highway 206 in Brown County.

The driver of a 2008 Jeep Wrangler was Johnny Chance Connelly, 39, of Cross Plains. He was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains.
Injured in the accident was Gage Thomas Connelly, 19, of Burkett. He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with critical injuries.
According to the preliminary DPS report, the vehicle was traveling Northeast on Highway 206 when it left the roadway to the right, went over a creek and struck a concrete embankment on the opposite side of the creek. The vehicle flipped over, ejecting both the driver and passenger. Neither were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
Funeral services for Chance Connelly are pending with Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains.
