The American Southwest Conference today announced the 2010 women’s basketball pre-season poll and the Howard Payne Lady Jackets were picked to finish second in the ASC West Division after a vote of each division’s head coaches, sports information directors and media members.

Four-time ASC champion Howard Payne (21-6, 16-5 ASC) was picked to finish second in the West, totaling 152 points and three top-spot votes. The Lady Jackets have won four of the last six conference titles and claimed the national championship in 2008.

Third year head coach Joshua Prock looks to add another title with his strongest recruitment class since taking the job. The Lady Jackets return 10 players from last season’s 21-6 squad. Howard Payne will open up the 2010-2011 season at Centre College Tournament in Danville, KY on November 29th and 30th. They will play host Centre College before taking on Blackburn College the next day.
