Brownwood News – Seven hardy Texas souls will be memorialized at 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, at a Daughters of the Republic of Texas medallion ceremony at Indian Creek Cemetery.
The public is invited to attend the free event. A reception will follow at the historic Greenleaf Fisk House with artifacts of this family’s Texas history on display. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Mary Lee Bailey Shelton at [email protected], and bring a lawn chair for seating.

Texans to be honored include Lemuel King Baker, Mary Miller, William H. Miller, Paulina Baker Miller, Amanda Miller Middleton, Leola Clementine Middleton McAden and Vess Ivy Middleton Bailey.
Especially encouraged to attend are descendants of William T. and Amanda Middleton. Their children included Claudia Elinor Middleton Boyd, Addie Ruth Middleton Knape, Robert Monroe Middleton, Leola Clementine Middleton McAden, William Albert Middleton, Vess Ivy Middleton Bailey and Vance Middleton Weathers.
This family moved to Brown County about 1880 and raised their family at Indian Creek.
