Keeping up the winning streak, the Brownwood Lions marched into Llano and crushed the Yellow Jackets Friday night with a 54-14 victory. Brownwood continues to prove why they are ranked number one in 3A by scoring on 7 possessions in the first half of the game.
34 seconds into the first quarter, on a halfback option, Derek Longoria at the 37 yard line, threw to Luke Chastain at the 5 yd line, who took the ball into the end zone for the first touchdown of the game. Dillon Ellis missed the extra point and the score was 6-0.
With 8:34 left in the first quarter, QB Graylon Brown connected with Luke Chastain on a 24 yard pass which resulted in the next Brownwood touchdown. This was a 38 yard drive with 4 plays and Ellis made the extra point bringing the score was then 13-0.
Brown threw to WR Jaxon Shipley finishing a 51 yard drive in two plays for the next score bringing the game to 20-0.
A hand-off to Levi Perez and a short run for a touchdown takes the score to 27-0. It was a run that ended a 65 yard drive made up of 5 plays. The extra point was missed. The score was then 27-0.
Brown later connects with Shipley again in the last 10 minutes in the first half for another score. Ellis was good on the extra point making the score 34-0.
With just over 5 minutes left in the first half, Llano scores after a 12 play drive that lasted a little more than 5 minutes, bringing the score to 34-7.
Brownwood’s next drive ends with Brown rushing and taking the ball in for a touchdown, a 51 yard drive, making the score 40-7.
In the next Brownwood possession, Brown threw to Chastain at midfield who broke a tackle, and takes it to the 15 yard line. Brownwood receives a penalty pushing the ball back 10 yards.
With less than 2 minutes in the half, Levi Perez takes a hand off to the goal line but comes up short. In the next play, RB Stehl Ratliff takes it in for the TD making the score 47-0 after Dillon Ellis is good on the extra point.
The first half of the game had 7 Brownwood possessions, which all resulted in scoring drives. Brownwood dominated the first half with 402 total offensive yards compared to Llano’s 96..
With less than 10 minutes left in the 3rdquarter, Graylon Brown fakes a handoff and carries the ball into the end zone. On a high snap, Dillon Ellis manages to get the extra point, bringing the score to 54-7.
Llano’s next possession was made up of 18 plays which were an unsuccessful 7 minute drive.
Ellis attempted a 42 yard field goal in the 4th quarter; however after a high snap, the attempt was short.
In Llano’s next possession, their QB makes a 66 yard carry. Two plays later, Llano hands off and scores their second touchdown. The extra point was good and the score was 54-14.

Brownwood rushed for 353 yards and had 241 passing.
Total offense for Brownwood was 594 yards.
Brownwood goes 4-0 and will face China Springs for their Homecoming game on September 24th at Gordon Wood Stadium.
