Brownwood News – On Monday, June 4th, 2018, at approximately 7 p.m., a Brownwood Police Officer was dispatched to 401 W. Commerce regarding a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian.

According to Brownwood Police Department reports, after arriving on the scene, the officer learned that a husband and wife were walking in the business parking lot. Witnesses reported an older model pickup driven by an older white female had just completed backing out of a parking space and accelerated toward the couple at a high rate of speed.  The pickup turned toward the couple as it approached them and the pickup’s side mirror struck the female’s right arm.

The pickup then left the parking lot in spite of the couple and witnesses attempts to stop it.

While awaiting the arrival of law enforcement, the witnesses and victim explained that the pickup came back into the parking lot and the unidentified driver made obscene gestures as she drove by.

The victim sought medical attention for a minor injury at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center. The suspect has not been identified and the investigation continues.
