Eugene A. “Dean” Hawkins Jr.

Funeral Services for Eugene A. “Dean” Hawkins Jr., age 59, of Brownwood, Texas will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early with Bill Slaymaker officiating.   Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.  Mr. Hawkins passed away Saturday at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Dean was born on June 29, 1958 in Brownwood, Texas to Eugene Adolphus and Peggy Galloway Hawkins and was a 1976 graduate of Brownwood High School where he played tennis, was a member of the National Honor Society, the Debate Club and served as President for the Latin Club.  He graduated from Howard Payne University in 1980.  He was a Certified Public Accountant, was a past President for the Masonic Lodge and the Optimist Club, a member of the Brownwood Jaycees, Rotary Club, Brownwood Lions Booster Club and the Boys and Girls Club.  Dean was and member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a avid golfer. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his daughters Jenny McQueen and husband Justin of San Angelo; Holly Lowrey and husband Wade of Brownwood; grandchildren Julia and Jameson McQueen; his mother Peggy Hawkins of Weatherford and by numerous nieces, friends and other family members.

He was preceded in death by father Eugene Hawkins, sister Shelli Pierce and the mother of his children Jana Hawkins.

Memorial may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Brownwood.
