Press Release – The Brownwood Police Department has concluded an exhaustive investigation into recent vehicle burglaries by apprehending two suspects on October 16, 2017. This investigation resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle, firearms and property.

On October 10, 2017, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Terrace Drive. That same day, five (5) vehicle burglaries were reported which had occurred at several locations throughout the city. A handgun and an AR-15 rifle were stolen along with an Apple Watch and assorted other personal property.
On October 14th, the stolen vehicle was recovered in an alleyway of the 2100 block of 8th Street.
On October 16th, Brownwood Police Officer Jared Spohn stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Officer Spohn and Detective Aaron Taylor located one of the stolen firearms along with a small quantity of methamphetamine. The subsequent investigation from the traffic stop resulted in the arrest of the following persons:
Tommy Dale Holland III, 17 years of age, of Brownwood, has been charged with:
- Tamper With or Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair – 3rd Degree Felony
- Theft of a Firearm – State Jail Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Under 1 Gram – State Jail Felony
- Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon – Class A Misdemeanor
Dalton Blake Crosby, 18 years of age, of Brownwood, has been charged with:
- Tamper With or Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair – 3rd Degree Felony
- Theft of a Firearm – State Jail Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Under 1 Gram – State Jail Felony
Following up on the investigation, Brownwood Police Detective Kim Holland located and recovered the stolen AR-15 along with the Apple Watch. Officer Ray Slayton also assisted in identifying additional suspects and recovering stolen property taken from the vehicle burglaries.
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests will be made. Additional charges on Holland and Crosby are anticipated as well.

Citizens are reminded to lock their vehicle doors. All of the vehicle burglaries in this investigation were entered through unlocked doors. Valuables such as firearms should not be left in vehicles. Remember, “Lock – Take – Hide.”
