Sue Bennie

Sue Bennie, 84, of Bangs, TX, passed away in Abilene Wednesday September 6, 2017. Funeral services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral & Cremations, will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday September 9, 2017, at Bangs Church of Christ with Milton Langston officiating. Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. Condolences to the family can be online at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net or come by the funeral home to sign the register.

Ella Sue Horner was born October 15, 1932, in Brownwood, TX to William Elbert (W.E.) and Grace Truman (Murphree) Horner, and was their only child. Sue attended and graduated from Early High School in 1950. Sue married Bob Bennie in 1951. They owned Bennie Tractor in Bangs, TX from 1960 until Bob’s death in 1997. Together, they farmed peanuts and raised cattle. She was a member of the Bangs Church of Christ.

Sue is survived by son, Terry Bennie and wife Patty of Bangs; daughters, Serita Clardy and husband Kevin of Early, Teresa Roberts and husband Jerry of Bangs; grandchildren, Travis and Robbin Cooper of Colorado, Brandon and Joanie Fagan of Bangs, Will and Tara Bennie of California, Sarah and Michael Brady of Kansas, Kendra Clardy of Abilene, Keith Clardy of Lubbock, Tyler and Phylli Roberts of Oklahoma, and Taylor Roberts of bangs. She was preceded in death by husband of 46 years, Bob Bennie, and parents, W.E. and Grace Horner.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Bangs Cemetery Association or Bangs Church of Christ Youth Camp Fund.
