Funeral services for Cleve Waylon “C.W.” Carey, 84, of Cross Plains will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10 AM at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cross Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Carey died Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Cleve Carey was born on August 1, 1932 in Pioneer, Texas (Eastland County). He married Edna Mae Stewart on July 1, 1948.
He is survived by his spouse Edna Mae (Shorty) Carey, as well as daughter, Donna Sue Carey, son, Larry Dale Carey, son, Rickey Cleve Carey and wife, Sandra, daughter Brenda Lou Traylor and husband Sherman (Pete); grandchildren Jason and wife Melonie Carey, Roger and wife, Wendy Carey, Dale Carey and wife Kim, D’Ann Carey and Robert Blake, and Danna Carey, four great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Wayne and wife, Cathy Carey as well as several first cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vister Columbus Carey, mother Rosa Ellen Robison Carey, stepmother Maggie Fox Carey and one sister, Hazel Bennie Carey.
Cleve was known as a hard worker having worked at Helpy-Selfie, Safeway, Hickman Nursing Homes, 3M, farming and ranching. He did odd jobs on the side to help people that couldn’t do for themselves. And he loved his brother dearly. They had many hours of fun hunting, fishing and boating which became a big family affair.
