Tuesday, March 14th
*9:29 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Carnegie Street in reference to forgery. According to the report, a complainant reported forged checks had been used to withdraw over $5,000. Known suspects were listed and the investigation is ongoing.
*10:22 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Carnegie Street in reference to criminal mischief. Large amounts of graffiti were reported, damaging local businesses. Known suspects were listed and an investigation is ongoing.
*11:07 a.m. Brownwood Police responded to a call from the 1600 block of 3rd Street. According to the report, the complainant stated a laptop had been stolen from the residence.
*3:17 p.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Belle Plain in reference to a burglary of a building. According to the report, the building showed signs of forced entry and power tools were stolen. An investigation is ongoing.
*7:50 p.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the 400 block of 7th Street after observing a vehicle failing to stop at a designated stop sign. After making contact with the driver and conducting a background search, officers arrested Jeffery Hamill for an outstanding warrant. Hamill was also charged with Failure to Identify/Fugitive Intentionally Giving False Information.
*9:50 p.m. Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Avenue K and Austin Avenue after observing a gray colored Ford Escape fail to yield right away to oncoming traffic. The traffic stop lead to a narcotic investigation after the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. After a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, and a weight scale and numerous small jewelry bags with marijuana residue was located in the vehicle. The driver was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
