Written by Amanda Coers – Friends Stephen Sullivan and Joshua Snow are spending their holiday break selling fireworks, and a portion of their earnings will benefit both Howard Payne University and the Hope Home Ministry.
Their stand, located at 3000 Brady Avenue in Brownwood, will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight every day until the morning of New Year’s Day. Both Sullivan and Snow will be manning the stand, with occasional help from friends, in an effort to earn a little extra money and give back to the two organizations close to their hearts.
“HPU is a recipient because we both work there and graduated from there,” said Sullivan, Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Howard Payne University. While finding education and career paths, both Sullivan and Snow, who works as a Student Activities Director at HPU, met their wives while attending the university.
“We chose Hope Home because they provide so much for the girls they help and work tirelessly to ensure the girls a brighter future. We admire what they do,” said Sullivan.
Hope Home Ministry provides shelter and a faith-based transitional program to young women released from juvenile correctional facilities in Texas.
The ministry is located in Brownwood, and was opened in 2008, offering participants a safe home environment, counseling, life skills training, accountability and other transitional training. The ministry relies completely on donations to operate.
Hope Home’s program is offered free of charge to young women seeking a second chance. Hope Home Ministry is not state funded and operates solely on donations from caring individuals and churches in the community.
All contributions to the ministry are tax-deductible. Donations can be made on their website or by check mailed to the following address:
