votebuttonVoters in Brownwood and Early overwhelmingly approved the conversion of each city’s economic development corporations to municipal development districts in elections held on May 7th.

In Brownwood, the proposition passed by more than 80% with 389 yes votes.  For the city of Early, the proposition passed by almost 89% with 88 yes votes.

Each city will be working on the conversion over the next few months, and the new municipal development districts will take effect October 1st.   This will allow more options for the expenditure of each city’s economic development funds.

In the election for city council seats in Bangs, Larry Williford, Larry Loman, and Carrol Wells came out on top for the 3 at-large seats out of 6 candidates.

In the Blanket ISD board of trustee election, Beth Bowyer defeated Vicky Godfrey Jenkins with 50.32% of the vote for Place 3, Sherry Gill defeated Janis Kinkade and Robert Menchaca with 46.03% for Place 4 and Russell Wigham defeated Ronnie Davis with 51.76% in Place 5.
