On Wednesday afternoon ColemanToday.com shared the following press release it received from Coleman Police Chief Marty Baker:
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at approximately 9:15 PM, the Coleman Police Department and the Coleman County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 400 block of East 10th Street in Coleman, Texas for numerous calls about gunshots being heard.
Upon arrival, officers found a 26-year-old man in front of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds and started administering first aid. The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, a 17-year-old man was found to be at the residence and was placed under arrest. The suspect is currently being held in the Coleman County Jail for Murder with his bond set at $300,000.00.
This investigation has been turned over to the Texas Rangers who will be the lead investigative agency. The Coleman Police Department and Coleman County Sheriff’s Department will continue to assist them with the investigation.
According to Coleman County Jail records, Jace Landyn Scott was booked for the crime. According to Heartland Funeral Home, Connor Leigh Murphy was the victim. Services for Murphy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
