Early softball remains undefeated with 11-6 home win over Coleman

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns softball team remained undefeated Monday with an 11-6 victory over Coleman in a rematch of their contest during the Battle on the Bayou over the weekend.

Early (6-0) trailed 3-1 heading to the bottom of the second inning where the Lady Horns grabbed a 5-3 edge. Coleman moved back ahead 6-5 in the top of the third, but Early scored four times in the bottom of the fourth to regain a 9-6 advantage. The Lady Horns tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth frames.

The Lady Horns chalked up a dozen hits led by Aleeya McCombs’ two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs; Marissa Reedy with a pair of hits and three RBIs; Jamie Lyon with two hits and one RBI; Andie Simpson contributed two hits; and Kyleigh Caperton, Rylee Tupin, Jordan Simmons and Sydney Greaves each finished with one hit.

In the circle, Caperton and Leslee Beard combined to surrender five earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and five walks.

The Lady Horns are back in action this weekend at the Llano tournament against Ingram Tom Moore at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Goldthwaite at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Trinity Christian at 11:10 a.m. Friday, Glen Rose at 2:30 p.m. Friday, and Austin LASA at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
