STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions chalked up their first victory of the season, 7-5 over Peaster, Friday afternoon at the Stephenville softball tournament.
The Lady Lions struck for a single run in the top of the first inning and added their final six runs in the third inning, all before Peaster lit up the scoreboard.
Brownwood tallied seven hits – two each by Jeniffer Romero and Chloe Walls, and one apiece by Carlee Burks, Jakayla Peek and Hanah Campos. Romero, Burks, Walls, Peek, Maitlyn Esquivel and Karina Mata each collected an RBI.
In the circle, Kayden Allen tossed a two-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks, while the Brownwood defense committed a pair of errors.
Friday’s second game against Breckenridge was canceled. The Lady Lions will conclude tournament action Saturday against Waco University at 10:45 a.m. and Boyd at 4 p.m.
