LaWan Ingram Israel, 82 of Brownwood, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2024. LaWan was surrounded by family and friends in her home when she left this earthly world and walked into the arms of Jesus.
Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremation, 2512 Belle Plan St, Brownwood, Texas.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on December 21, 2024 at Coggin Baptist Church, Brownwood, Texas with Tim Skaggs officiating. There will be a lunch provided for close family and friends following at Coggin Baptist. Burial will follow at Albany Cemetery in Albany, Texas. Services are under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home 2512 Belle Plain in Brownwood, Texas 76801.
LaWan was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Jack Washington Ingram and Mary Sue Hash Ingram on November 21, 1942. She attended Abilene High School in Abilene Texas. LaWan married the love of her life, James Eldon Israel on November 14, 1959, at Pioneer Baptist in Abilene, Texas. She was a devoted Christian woman and was always active in her church. She recently attended Coggin Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas. She loved the Lord with all her heart and during all the years of being a Christian her faith in Christ never waivered. LaWan expressed her creativity through crocheting and sewing but her true love was hand quilting. She prayed over every quilt that she made, even if she did not know who the quilt would be for.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Eldon Israel; her parents Jack Washington Ingram and Mary Sue Hash Ingram; daughter, Kimberly Israel: and granddaughter, Chrissie Israel Morgan.
She leaves to cherish many precious memories her son, Jack Eldon Israel, wife Karen; her daughter Alison Sue Israel; her brother, John Ingram, wife Mindy; her sister, Ramona Morris, husband Jim; her sister, Jacklyn Ingram Leal, husband, Ernesto; grandchildren, Heather Langford Schultz; Amber Langford Cain, husband Jason; Joseph Eldon Israel, wife Brittany; Bayli Barnhill Chavez, husband Andres; Kyley Israel and Ellie James Israel; great-grandchildren, Emalynn Horton, Selah Horton, Stetson Morgan, Aubrey Israel, Micah Schultz, Wyatt Morgan, Colt Israel and Aeson Chavez; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many other relatives, friends and church family.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Israel, Andres Chavez, Jason Cain, Michael Cobb, Greg Cummings, John Wayne Ingram, Jessie Ingram and Del Israel.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Braun, Gary Eoff, John Humphries, Don Neal, and Vic Singleton
In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to Coggin Baptist.
The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Leigh Ann Collins, the compassionate staff at Kinder Hearts that we grew to love, that became family, the Providers and staff at Hendrick Medical Center Abilene – North and Dr. Garret E. Risley and emergency room staff at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.
