Eighteen members of the District 4-4A Division I third-seed Brownwood Lions received all-district accolades from the coaches of the league, which were released Monday.
Landing on the first-team offense from Brownwood were junior quarterback Judson Coalson (1,653 passing yards, 13 TDs, 7 INTs; 353 rushing yards, 3 TDs), junior receiver Carson Noe (38-473, 3 TDs receiving), and junior offensive lineman Aidan Packheiser (26 points and 327 yards – 169 rushing and 158 passing – per game).
First-team defensive choices included senior safety Noah Gonzalez (120 tackles, 3 for loss) and senior defensive lineman Robert Trowbridge (93 tackles, 2 for loss).
Making first-team special teams was junior returner Devin Eanes (7-131, TD receiving; 47 tackles, 2 for loss, 3 INTs).
Landing on the second-team offense were junior receiver Grant Gray (27-437, 5 TDs receiving) and senior offensive lineman Ian Barrera (26 points and 327 yards – 169 rushing and 158 passing – per game).
Receiving nods for the second-team defense were junior linebacker Brinson Martin (145 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 sack), senior lineman Weston Wolf (50 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery), and junior safety Cavin Webster (71 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception).
Second-team special teams honors went to junior kicker Eli Valenciano (16 of 16 PATs, 1 of 2 field goals, long of 26).
Receiving honorable mention on the offense were junior receivers Aaron Edmonds (28-331, 3 TDs receiving) and Stone Ratliff (9-137, TD receiving) and senior offensive lineman Isaiah Rosas (26 points and 327 yards – 169 rushing and 158 passing – per game).
Defensive honorable mention recipients included sophomore safety Wyatt Wolf (100 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 fumble recovery), junior cornerback Raven Prado (52 tackles, 3 for loss, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery), and senior cornerback Kenyan McDowell (34 tackles, 1 sack).
Superlative award winners in 4-4A Division I included District MVP Ryan Gafford of Stephenville, Offensive MVP Reed Jerome of Lampasas, Defensive MVP Kolton Dearth of Stephenville, Offensive Newcomer of the Year Daemian Rivas of Lampasas, Defensive Newcomer of the Year Nolan Griswold of Stephenville, Special Teams MVP Cade Whitehead of Stephenville, Offensive Line MVP Cooper Doty of Stephenville, Defensive Line MVP CJ Spellmeier of Stephenville, and Coach of the Year Sterling Doty of Stephenville.
The rest of the first-team offense include Burnet quarterback Rhett Murray; running backs Sawyer Wilkerson from Stephenville and KJ Reed from Lampasas; fullbacks Jack Butchee from Stephenville and Raider Morua from Lampasas; tight end Jayden Luhan from Stephenville; linemen Kevin Castruita and Tucker Jarboe from Lampasas, Wyatt York and Devin Zipp from Stephenville, and Johnathan Ryder from Burnet; receivers Ty Johnson and Bryson Roberts from Lampasas and Tristian Gentry from Stephenville; utility players Marcus Pimental from Burnet and Haegen Oncken from Lampasas; kicker Marco Campos-Huerta of Burnet; and returner Tanner Smith of Stephenville.
Rounding out the first-team defense were linemen Trenton Hobbs and Brady Renfrew of Lampasas and Noah Billock of Burnet; linebackers Hudson Butchee, Caleb Taylor and Brighton DeVivo from Stephenville and Lampasas’ Levi Ferguson; secondary members Willis Jackson, Briar Floyd and Kutter Stone from Stephenville and Josiah Toeaina from Lampasas, utility player Tate Langford from Lampasas; punters Brighton DeVivo of Stephenville and Josiah Toeaina of Lampasas.
Comprising the remainder of the second-team offense were quarterback Colton Minor of Marble Falls; running backs Josiah Coronado of Burnet and Zyler McClendon of Stephenville; fullbacks Bodhi Westra of Lampasas and Khris Kassner of Burnet; tight end Riley Howell of Burnet and Noah Lyon of Marble Falls; linemen Bryton Ellis and Daniel Norton from Lampasas, Aiden Collier and Rob Harrison of Stephenville, and Johnny Charron of Burnet; receivers Bryson Powell and Jhett Banuelos of Stephenville, Burnet’s Colt Stanford and Marble Falls’ Kole Becker; and returner Kaleb Biefeldt of Marble Falls.
Completing the list of second-team defenders were linemen Riley Howell and Evan Joiner of Burnet, Stephenville’s Jonas Saldivar and Marble Falls’ Kaleb Biefeldt; linebackers Alejandro Ochoa, Marcus Pimental and Khris Kassner of Burnet and Lampasas’ Eli Calderon; secondary members Lew Laidler, Jordyn Jones and Cason O’Hair of Burnet, Lampasas’ Shawn Roberts and Stephenville’s Cash Kribbs; utility players Trevin Park of Burnet and Lampasas’ Carter Kuhn; and punter Lew Laidler of Burnet.
The Lions, under the direction of seventh-year head coach Sammy Burnett, finished the season with a 6-5 record, 2-2 against district foes, and reached the playoffs for the 16th year in a row and a 51st time overall, with a third consecutive bi-district championship thanks to the program’s 78th playoff win all-time.
