LORENA – The Brownwood Lady Lions captured the silver bracket championship Saturday afternoon, completing a 3-1 stay at the Lorena tournament, with a 56-47 victory over the Jarrell Lady Cougars.

Brownwood (10-5) shot 35 percent (17 of 48) from the field, including 2 of 14 on three-pointers, but sank 20 of 32 free throws (62 percent). The Lady Lions overcame 19 turnovers by pulling down 41 rebounds, including 15 on offense, and creating 10 steals.

All-tournament team selection Icess Hall again paced the Lady Lions with 18 points trailed by Trinity Roberts with 15, Hannah Deen with nine, Jade Morin with six, Nylah Hall with three, Kate Tindol and Cassidy Brown with two apiece, and Lanie Johnson with one point.

The Lady Lions led 11-5 after one period, 19-15 at halftime, and 33-28 after three quarters.

Brownwood (10-5) is back in action at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday as it hosts Burnet.
