Zephyr (7-1, 2-0) at Sidney (3-4, 0-2)

The Class A Division II No. 10 Zephyr Bulldogs took an emphatic step toward a third straight district championship last week and look to continue on that path as they visit the Sidney Eagles, who are still seeking their first win against 13-A Division II competition.
Zephyr is coming off a 58-14 victory over Blanket in which the Bulldogs forced eight Tiger turnovers as CJ Byers recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown while Wyatt Stevens and Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins each picked off three passes.
Byers also scored on a 29-yard kick return, while the Zephyr offense produced 260 yards, with 208 coming on the ground. Stevens rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns and added 52 yards through the air and two more scores.
Reese Hamm hauled in a 7-yard touchdown catch and finished with two grabs for 45 yards, and Trapper Schoenhals pulled down a 7-yard scoring reception. Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins also scored on a 1-yard run.
Defensively, Zephyr surrendered 218 yards – 111 passing and 107 rushing – as Byers and Schoenhals led the team with nine tackles each followed by Hamm with eight and Corben Gosnell with six.
Sidney is coming off a 44-6 loss to Rising Star in which the Eagles allowed 416 yards of total offense, including 331 passing. The only touchdown for Sidney was the result of a kick return.
Players to watch for Sidney are Lehman Lindeque, Ethan Scantling, Dylan Terpstra and Rees Miller.

The Class A Division I No. 4 May Tigers look to keep their perfect record intact as they visit Lometa in the second of three District 14-A Division I games.
May is a coming off a 72-8 victory over Santa Anna in the district opener, while Lometa – which at one point in the season cracked the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class A Division I Top 10 – suffered a 54-8 loss to Jonesboro in its league opener.
The Tigers are led by Ben Harrell, Kobey Morris, Lane Goodson, Kaden Watkins, Jackson Lusk, Cayson Dail, Mikey Scheriger and Brody Stice, among others.
Players to watch for Lometa are Lukas Smialus-Cruz, Jordan Livesay, Colten Whitehead, Emmanuel Prado, Stone Carr-Jones, Jeremiah Torres, and Easton Hamilton.

The Brookesmith Mustangs are looking to push their overall record back over .500 and level their District 15-A Division II mark as they visit the much-improved Lohn Eagles.
Brookesmith is coming off a 60-16 loss to Rochelle as the Mustangs were sparked by Adyn Ribble’s 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Derrick Beard and Devin Keith paced the Mustang defense.
Lohn had a bye last week, while its most recent outing was a 52-0 loss to Rochelle.
Players to watch for Lohn include include Barrett Brock, Fermin DeLaRosa, Dallas Keller, Connor Nuncio, Kadin Reeves, and Austin Ellison.

The Comanche Indians continue their march toward the postseason as they welcome winless San Angelo TLCA in District 3-3A Division I action Friday night.
Comanche enters the contest averaging 26 points and 347 yards – 240 rushing and 107 passing – per outing.
The Indians offense is led by quarterback Cayden Davis (846 passing yards, 9 TDs, 4 INTs; 935 rushing yards, 7 TDs), running back Ladanaian Smith (599 rushing, 3 TDs) and receivers CT Buford (23-394, 6 TDs) and Manuel Ortiz (11-234, TD).
Standouts on the Comanche defense include Alex Terrell (69 tackles, 2 for loss, 3 INTs), Badger Sanchez (68 tackles, 5 for loss, 1 sack, 1 INT), JJ Davis (52 tackles), and Zaden Tello (43 tackles, 6 sacks).
The Indians are giving up 20 points per game on average with 13 sacks and 14 takeaways – eight interceptions and six fumble recoveries.
TLCA heads into the contest having been outscored 536-20 on the season, or 67-2 on average, with five shutout losses, including each of the last four outings.

The Coleman Bluecats are coming off their first victory of the season and continue their quest to reach the playoffs as they visit the Ballinger Bearcats Friday night.
In a 14-6 triumph over Hico last week, Coleman was victorious despite gaining just 238 yards – 162 rushing and 76 passing – and allowing 317 yards – 227 on the ground and 90 through the air.
Hunter Edington completed 4 of 8 passes for 76 yards and a 7-yard touchdown to Kelan Sikes, while also rushing for a 3-yard score. Sikes led Coleman with two catches for 46 yards and Braylon Stewart added a 36-yard reception.
On the ground, Blaine Bouldin rushed for 94 yards while Anthony Espitia added 64 yards.
Defensively for the Bluecats, Lane Bowers tallied 12 tackles followed by Brooks Clippinger and Paul Salas with 11 apiece, Cutter Cody with nine, and Espitia and Darren Hurtado, who recorded a sack, with eight. Bouldin picked off a pass for Coleman.

The San Saba Armadillos look to remain atop the District 14-2A Division I standings heading into the regular season finale with state-ranked Mason as head coach Andreas Aguirre’s squad visits the Holland Hornets Friday night.
San Saba is coming off a 49-13 victory over Harper as the Armadillos churned out 380 yards, with 317 coming on the ground.
Quarterback Luke Tharp again led the charge with 214 rushing yards and three touchdowns while passing for 63 yards and two more scores. For the season, Tharp has now rushed for 1,358 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Preston Gray grabbed all four Armadillo receptions and scored twice as well, while Alex Estrada contributed 54 yards on the ground.
Defensively for the Armadillos, Sterling Proffitt, Levi Glover and Juan Patino each intercepted a pass. Jason Everett led the team with 13 tackles followed by 11 from Kaylub Roberts and 10 from Cash Bryant.
Holland’s lone district loss came at the hands of Mason by a 61-15 count last week.
Players to watch for the Hornets include WR Marc Grinnan, WR Christian Michalek, LB Mason Chaney, WR Meshach Griffin, DL Austin Hargrove, Te James Steglich and CB Tyler Johnson.

The Cross Plains Buffaloes find themselves in a must-win situation regarding their playoff hopes as they visit the Hamlin Pied Pipers Friday night.
Cross Plains suffered its third straight District 7-2A Division II defeat at the hands of No. 4 Albany, 62-12, last week.
In that contest, the Buffaloes were held to 194 total yards – 114 passing and 80 rushing – with one turnover, while giving up 461 yards, including 345 through the air with five scoring strikes.
Tyler Mackey rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown and Kade Purvis added 33 yards and a score on the ground. Purvis also completed 11 of 22 passes for 114 yards as Gray Albrecht grabbed six receptions for 49 yards and Landry Savell pulled in three catches for 52 yards.
Defensively, Mackey registered 10 tackles followed by seven each from Purvis and Albrecht, and six apiece from Bryson Barron and Jessey Bradford.
Hamlin owns a 27-0 district win over Winters with losses to Roscoe (29-18) and Miles (41-0).

The Goldthwaite Eagles look to snap a two-game District 10-2A Division II skid and solidify their playoff position as they visit the Meridian Yellowjackets Friday night.
Goldthwaite is coming off losses of 75-47 at Bremond and 44-36 at home to Wortham last week.
Against Wortham, Goldthwaite finished with 345 total yards – 285 rushing and 60 passing – while allowing 357 yards – 240 through the air and 117 on the ground.
Luke Sanderson rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns and Landry Sanderson added 103 yards and two scores to pace the Eagle offense. Quarterback Aidyn Lee added 75 yards on the ground and completed 6 of 10 passes for 60 yards. Casen Wiedebusch finished with a team-high three catches for 38 yards.
Meridian’s lone win this season is a 38-32 overtime victory over one-win Hubbard – a team Goldthwaite defeated 61-0 – in the district opener for both teams.

The Santa Anna Mountaineers face a do-or-die situation in terms of their postseason plans as they visit the Class A Division I No. 6 Jonesboro Eagles in a District 14 contest.
Santa Anna, which is coming off a 72-8 loss to May, must defeat Jonesboro, which knocked off Lometa, 54-8 last week, to keep its hopes of reaching the playoffs alive.
Players to watch for Santa Anna include William Perry, Wyatt Strickland, Aiden Calfa Brock Brown, Jordan Diggs, Jayden Gibson, and Jeremiah Davila.

In a game that will determine the District 15-A Division II championship and playoff seeding for the two qualifiers, the Class A Division II No. 2 Richland Springs Coyotes visit the longtime district rival Rochelle Hornets.
Richland Springs picked up a forfeit victory over Panther Creek last week, and the week prior added a game against the Lubbock West Texas Tornadoes that resulted in a 46-0 victory.
In that contest, the Coyotes led 32-0 after one quarter thanks to touchdown runs of 44 and 3 yards by Cohen Ethridge and 15 and 8 yards by Billy Perry, as Ethan Deeds converted two-point kicks after each.
In the second quarter, Perry tossed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Hutton Rogers, who also intercepted a pass in the first quarter, and Gage Behrens capped the scoring on a 5-yard plunge with 5:23 remaining.
Rochelle started its season with wins over Medina (76-28) and Menard (83-34), then suffered three straight losses to May (85-40), Lometa (72-38) and Water Valley (73-28). Since the start of district, the Hornets have chalked up victories over Lohn (52-0) and Brookesmith (60-16).

Both the Rising Star Wildcats and Gustine Tigers will attempt to keep their faint postseason hopes alive as the two teams clash in a District 13-A Division II showdown Friday night.
Rising Star is coming off its first league victory, 44-6 over Sidney last week, as the Wildcats threw for 331 yards, led by Anthony Pollard’s 284-yard, five-touchdown performance. Curtis Pruitt also connected on 5 of 7 passes for 42 yards and Manning Miller completed 1 of 2 for 5 yards.
Miller finished with five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns while Payton McGinn also pulled down five receptions for 108 yards with two trips to the end zone. Pollard added four grabs for 37 yards, and Kaiden Griffith caught three passes for 24 yards and a touchdown. Juakeen Froese added two grabs for 41 yards and Pruitt caught two passes for 4 yards.
On the ground, the Wildcats received 47 yards from Pollard, 15 yards from Pruitt, 14 yards and a touchdown from Payton McGinn, and 9 yards from Kason McGinn.

In a game that could determine the second and final playoff participant from District 14-A Division II, the Priddy Pirates host the Evant Elks Friday night.
Priddy is coming off a 68-0 loss to No. 3 Oglesby last week, while the Pirates’ only other league contest was a 58-28 victory over Cranfills Gap.
In that game, Catfish Baird rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 31-yard scoring toss for Priddy. Meanwhile, Wyatt Frazier rushed for 80 yards and two more Pirate scores.
Defensively, Austin Warmack recovered two fumbles and returned one 33 yards for a touchdown while also tallying 5.5 tackles. Baird led the team with 6.5 tackles with a 45-yard pick-six interception.
