EARLY – The Early Lady Horns’ three-match win streak against District 8-3A volleyball competition ended Saturday with a four-set 25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-14 loss to league co-leader Tolar.
The Lady Horns (16-18, 5-8), who are fighting for the fourth seed and the district’s playoff berth, have one game remaining at Dublin Tuesday. Early entered the weekend one game behind fourth-place Comanche (19-9, 6-6) in the league standings, as the Maidens were slated to face Peaster (27-8, 1-1).
Against Tolar (28-9, 12-1) – which faces Comanche Tuesday – the Lady Horns received 10 kills from Tyley Simmons, seven each from Jensyn Rasor and Aubrie DeVillier, four apiece from Karley Smith and and Jordan Simmons, three and Grey Pruett and one from Gabby Benson.
Pruett dished out 22 assists, Cassidy Frerichs chipped in 10 and Rasor was credited with one.
DeVillier and Jordan Simmons both served a pair of aces while Tyley Simmons and Aliyah Harlan adde one each.
Defensively, Benson’s 26 digs were a team-high trailed by 18 from DeVillier, 17 from Frerichs, 11 fro Smith, 10 from Pruett, six from Tyley Simmons, three each from Jordan Simmons and Harlan and one from Rasor.
At the net, Rasor and Jordan Simmons each recorded three blocks followed by two apiece from Pruett and Smith.
