HAMILTON – Facing their toughest challenge to date, the Bangs Dragons were unable to keep pace with the undefeated, 10th-ranked Hamilton Bulldogs in a 46-8 District 5-2A Division I decision Friday night.
Bangs (2-6, 0-3) was limited to 188 yards of total offense – 173 rushing and 15 passing – by the Hamilton (8-0, 3-0).
Nevaeh Menefield was the top rusher for the Dragons with 48 yards followed by Eliseo Rivas with 37 yards, Jackson Edmiston with 35, Aden Jones with 29 yards and a touchdown, and Skylar Minshew with 24 yards.
Through the air, Minshew completed 3 of 12 passes for 15 yards with four interceptions. Rex Guerrero caught a 10-yard pass while Cason Tidwell and Rivas added receptions of 1 and 4 yards, respectively.
Defensively for the Dragons, Tidwell led the team with 9.5 tackles trailed by Hunter Crowell with 6.5, and Guerrero and Connor Bible with 3.5 tackles. Bible also recovered a fumble.
Next, Bangs hosts De Leon (5-3, 3-0), which hammered Ballinger, 55-13, Friday night.
