Blanket (7-0, 2-0) at Zephyr (6-1, 1-0)

The District 13-A Division II championship could be decided Friday night as the undefeated, ninth-ranked Blanket Tigers visit the two-time reigning league champion Zephyr Bulldogs.
Blanket is coming off a 54-0 victory over Rising Star last week as the Tigers have now outscored their seven foes, 421-59.
Zephyr, meanwhile, has had two weeks to prepare for the contest with its bye falling last week. The most recent outing for the Bulldogs was a 45-0 league triumph over Rising Star.
In the Tigers’ win over Rising Star last week, Blanket compiled 339 total yards – 211 rushing and 128 passing.
Kannon Kensing rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 16-yard pass; Mason Beck caught four passes for 81 yards and scored three times; Cameron Aultman completed 4 of 5 passes for 93 yards with two touchdowns and rushed for 66 yards and another score; Dallas Shumaker connected on 3 of 6 tosses for 35 yards with two touchdowns; and Brian Shannon hauled in a 21-yard scoring reception.
Defensively for the Tigers, Shannon, Kensing and Thane Yeats each recovered a fumble. Kade Miller, Beck and Aultman led the team with six tackles apiece, followed by Shannon with five and Kensing and Yeats with two each.
In the Bulldogs’ win over Rising Star, Zephyr yielded just 38 total yards – 24 passing and 14 rushing – and forced seven turnovers.
The Bulldog offense, meanwhile, manufactured 307 yards with 267 coming on the ground.
Reese Hamm rushed for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Zephyr trailed by Wyatt Stevens with 41 yards and a score, CJ Byers with 22 yards and two trips to the end zone and Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins finished with 8 yards on the ground and scored once.
Through the air, Stevens threw for 40 yards as Wyatt Frank caught a 35-yard pass, and Hamm and Byers added receptions of 3 and 2 yards, respectively.
Stevens, Hamm and Evans-Rollins each intercepted two passes and Corben Gosnell also picked off a pass. Stevens and Byers led the way with six tackles each followed by Trapper Schoenhals with five.

Santa Anna (3-4, 0-0) at May (7-0, 0-0)

The Class A Division I No. 4 May Tigers and Santa Anna Mountaineers begin the District 14-A Division I portions of their respective schedules Friday night.
Both teams are coming off a bye week as the most recent outing for May was a 48-0 victory at Moran, while Santa Anna dropped its pre-district finale against Woodson, 62-14.
Prior to facing Moran, May knocked off Irion County as the Tigers manufactured 385 yards of total offense – 257 rushing and 128 passing.
Ben Harrell led the charge for the Tigers with 193 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, and tossed a 40-yard touchdown to Lane Goodson, who finished with two receptions for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Goodson also caught a 45-yard touchdown from Cayson Dail, who passed for 73 yards. Kobey Morris tacked on 30 yards and a touchdown on the ground and also returned a kick 50 yards to the end zone.
Defensively, Harrell tallied 12 tackles followed by 10 from Goodson, seven from Morris, six from Jackson Lusk and five tackles from Mikey Scheriger. Morris also intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble, while Kaden Watkins picked off a pass as well.
In Santa Anna’s loss to Woodson, the Mountaineers finished with 180 total yards – 125 on the ground and 55 through the air.
Wyatt Strickland rushed for 97 yards with a 60-yard scoring sprint and passed for 55 yards with a 47-yard scoring strike to Jordan Diggs.
Strickland also led Santa Anna with six tackles followed by four each from Brock Brown, Jeremiah Davila and Elijah Herrod.

Rochelle (3-3, 1-0) at Brookesmith (4-3, 1-1)

The Brookesmith Mustangs will attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive in District 15-A Division II as they play host to the Rochelle Hornets Friday night.
Brookesmith notched a forfeit win over Panther Creek last week, after falling to No. 2 Richland Springs in the league opener, 59-12. In that contest, the Mustangs received 163 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns on 13 carries from Adyn Ribble.
Rochelle is fresh off a 52-0 victory over Lohn last week as the Hornets snapped a three-game skid in their district opener after falling to May (85-40), Lometa (72-38) and Water Valley (73-28) in their previous three outings. The Hornets started their season with wins over Medina (76-28) and Menard (83-34).

Comanche (4-3, 1-1) at Breckenridge (0-7, 0-2)

The Comanche Indians look to rebound from their first District 3-3A Division I loss and keep the Breckenridge Buckaroos winless when the two teams cross paths Friday night.
Comanche fell at home to Sweetwater, 27-13, last week as the Indians managed 345 total yards – 226 rushing and 119 passing – with three turnovers.
Indian quarterback Cayden Davis rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown and completed 6 of 19 passes for 119 yards with one scoring toss and two picks. CT Buford caught three passes for 59 yards with a touchdown.
Alex Terrell chipped in 26 yards on the ground and caught a 31-yard pass and Ladanian Smith finished with 40 rushing yards with a 4-yard catch. Manuel Ortiz added a 22-yard reception.
Defensively for Comanche, Terrell and Smith each recorded nine tackles followed by Badger Sanchez with seven, and JJ Davis and Zaden Tello with six each and Buford and Trey Bauman with five apiece. Ortiz recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass and JJ Davis also picked off a pass.
Breckenridge, which has been outscored 271-54 this season, is led by quarterbacks Zage Gravitt (434 passing yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs) and Joseph Juneau (298 passing yards, 3 TDs, 4 INTs), running back Sawyer Wimberly (190 rushing yards, TD; 15-183, 2 TDs receiving) and receiver Cam David (10-118, TD).

Coleman (0-7, 0-2) at Hico (5-2, 1-1)

The Coleman Bluecats continue their search for the first victory of the season, while also trying to keep their chances of reaching the playoffs alive as they visit the Hico Tigers Friday night.
Coleman is coming off a 55-12 loss to De Leon in which the Bluecats were limited to 100 total yards – 95 rushing and 5 passing – with three turnovers. Defensively, the Bluecats surrendered 447 yards – 274 on the ground and 173 through the air – and did not force a takeaway.
Coleman scored on a 68-yard kick return by Brody Bland and a 12-yard run by Anthony Espitia.
Blaine Bouldin rushed for a team-high 39 yards followed by 30 yards from Paul Salas and 25 from Espitia, who also completed 2 of 5 passes for 5 yards with an interception. Salas caught a 4-yard pass and Micah Lackey tallied a 1-yard reception.
Cutter Cody and Salas recorded 13 tackles apiece for the Bluecats followed by 12 from Bouldin and eight each from Brooks Clippinger and Lane Bowers.
Hico is coming off a 42-14 win at Bangs as the Tigers allowed just 231 yards of total offense – 120 passing and 111 rushing – while producing 244 on the ground and 83 through the air.
Tyler Jackson completed 4 of 6 passes for 83 yards and rushed for 68 yards a score for Hico, Buck Powell finished with a game-high 73 rushing yards and a touchdown and Price Mullin chipped in 39 yards on the ground and reached the end zone twice. Wyatt Honea was the top receiver with two catches totaling 56 yards, while Mullin added two grabs for 27 yards with another score.
Kalder Halbook also returned the open kick of the second half 82 yards for a Hico touchdown.

Harper (3-4, 0-2) at San Saba (5-2, 2-0)

The San Saba Armadillos are out to keep their top spot in the District 14-2A Division I standings, as they welcome the Harper Longhorns who are still seeking their first league win.
San Saba chalked up a 36-28 victory over Thorndale last week as the Armadillos generated 403 yards of total offense, with 370 of those yards coming on the ground.
Quarterback Luke Tharp rushed for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns and also completed 3 of 7 passes for 33 yards. Alex Estrada tacked on 54 rushing yards and scored once, and Jason Everett rushed for 43 yards and reached the end zone.
Defensively, Tharp and Levi Glover both intercepted passes for San Saba, while Everett led the way with 12 tackles. Glover chipped in 11 followed by Danny English with 10 and Cash Bryant with eight tackles. English, Sterling Proffit and Adrian Martinez each recorded one sack for San Saba.
Harper has been outscored 101-14 in its two district outings thus far, first falling to Holland, 45-14, before being blanked by Mason, 56-0, last week.

Cross Plains (3-4, 0-2) at Albany (5-2, 2-0)

The toughest chore on the Cross Plains Buffaloes’ schedule comes Friday night with a trip to the visit the Class 2A Division II No. 4 Albany Lions.
Cross Plains suffered its second straight District 7 loss last week, 48-0 at the hands of Miles.
The Buffaloes mustered only 108 total yards – 90 rushing and 18 passing – with a pair of turnovers, while yielding 382 yards – 197 through the air and 185 on the ground – with one takeaway.
Tyler Mackey rushed for 44 yards and Kevin Hopkins added 27 on the ground for Cross Plains. Kade Purvis completed 2 of 11 passes for 18 yards – both to Landry Savell – with a pair of interceptions.
Mackey led the Buffaloes with nine tackles followed by Savell, Anson Long, and Bryson Barren with eight each and Gray Albrecht with seven. Savell intercepted a pass as well.
Albany has won five games in a row and is led by quarterback Chip Chambers (947 passing yards, 11 TDs, 6 INTs), running backs Branson Beal (879 rushing yards, 18 TDs) and Breylon Billington (389 rushing yards, 4 TDs) and receivers Cade Fairchild (24-321, 3 TDs) and Huffman Heatly (20-275, 4 TDs).

The Goldthwaite Eagles will attempt to put their first District 10-2A Division II setback behind them as they welcomes the Wortham Bulldogs Friday night.
Goldthwaite was dealt a 75-47 defeat at Bremond last week as the Eagles finished with 520 yards – 386 rushing and 134 passing – with three turnovers, and allowed 618 yards – 364 on the ground and 254 through the air – without a takeaway.
Quarterback Aidyn Lee rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns and completed 5 of 13 passes for 118 yards and two more scores for the Eagles. Luke Sanderson caught four passes for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 72 yards with a trip to the end zone. Landry Sanderson chipped in 133 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Wortham is coming off a 70-14 victory over Meridian as the Bulldogs are led by quarterback Jon Ross Black (739 passing yards, 9 TDs, 2 INTs; 505 rushing yards, 11 TDs), and receiver/running back Kymani Johnson (24-405, 5 TDs receiving; 382 rushing yards, 4 TDs).

The Sidney Eagles and Rising Star Wildcats are still in search of their first District 13-A Division II victories as their hopes for reaching the playoffs are beginning to dim.
Rising Star has opened league play with losses of 54-0 to Blanket and 45-0 to Zephyr, while Sidney was upended in its first district outing by Gustine, 60-14.
Players to watch for the Eagles are Lehman Lindeque, Ethan Scantling, Dylan Terpstra and Rees Miller.
Wildcats to keep an eye on include Anthony Pollard, Payton McGinn, Manning Miller, and Leland Schenk.

Priddy (1-5, 1-0) at Oglesby (6-2, 2-0)
7:30 p.m. Friday
The Priddy Pirates, coming off their first victory of the season, look to solidify their playoff chances as they visit District 14-A Division II front-runner and third-ranked Oglesby Tigers.
Before last week’s bye, Priddy defeated Cranfills Gap, 58-28, to kick off district competition Oct. 11.
Catfish Baird rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 31-yard scoring toss for Priddy, while Wyatt Frazier rushed for 80 yards and two more Pirate scores.
Defensively, Austin Warmack recovered two fumbles and returned one 33 yards for a touchdown while also tallying 5.5 tackles. Baird led the team with 6.5 tackles with a 45-yard pick six interception.
Frazier added 5.5 tackles as well, while Levi Breum tallied 4.5 tackles, Ryan Arnett collected four, and Brazos Miller finished with three tackles.
Oglesby, which picked up a forfeit win over Cranfills Gap last week, is led by Kyler Fossett (1,069 rushing yards, 25 TDs; 316 passing yards, 4 TDs; and 9-229, 4 TDs receiving).
