BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons remained tied for third place in the District 5-2A volleyball standings and secured a postseason berth with a four-set victory over De Leon, 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20 in Tuesday’s home finale.
With the victory, Bangs (16-17, 3-4) leads De Leon (3-16, 1-6 in district) by two full games in the win column with just one league game left for the Lady Dragons at district front-runner Hamilton Friday.
Against De Leon, the Lady Dragons were spurred on by Kasey Solis’ 12 kills, 10 from Ava Boren, nine from Neeley Bradley, six from Ashlynn Sliger, three from Cameryn Harmon and two from Dyan McCurdy.
Bradley distributed 19 assists while Boren chipped in 13.
Solis, Justice Baker and Julianna Ethridge recorded two aces apiece while Boren, Bradley and Cloey Petty each served one.
Defensively, Ethridge registered 20 digs followed by 18 from Boren, 13 from Bradley, 10 from Baker, nine from Petty, eight from Solis, five from Kylee Byler, four from Harmon and two each from Sliger and McCurdy.
At the net, Solis collected four blocks trailed by Sliger with three, and Bradley with one.
