I watched a movie this weekend that I have heard about almost my entire life.
“When Harry Met Sally.”
I’d never seen it. Just never got around to it.
I was then discussing movies I hadn’t seen, and realized there were several that are often on the “You haven’t seen THAT movie” level of response.
Good Fellas is one. The Graduate is another. Some Like It Hot, Raging Bull, Annie Hall, High Noon. Nope, never seen any of ‘em.
I did some research this morning, and printed out the American Film Institute’s list of 100 greatest movies, and I am proud to say that I have seen 41 of them. (Including The French Connection, which I am currently making my way through off my DVR).
A friend of mine hasn’t seen some movies that are on my list of “must-see” films, and we are going to remedy that this weekend.
I plan on making my way through the AFI list and seeing several of the landmark movies I have missed.
Who doesn’t love an afternoon on the couch, big bowl of popcorn or you particular favorite snack, a great movie on, and nothing else better to do?
Now, it’s an assignment, a mission, if you will.
I am doing something, darn it.
It’ll just look an awful lot like I’m doing nothing. That’s the trick.
Make work look like it’s nothing at all. (Or make nothing at all look like work. Not sure which one this qualifies as!)
