EASTLAND – The Early Lady Horns finally got over the hump and earned their first District 8-3A volleyball victory Friday, downing host Eastland in five sets, 25-18, 14-25, 9-25, 25-23, 15-6.
The offense for Early (12-14, 1-4) was sparked by Aubrie DeVillier with eight kills, Jensyn Rasor with five, Ellie Shea with four, Karley Smith and Tyley Simmons with two apiece, and Grey Pruett and Piper Pedersen with one each.
Pruett distributed 26 assists while DeVillier and Cassidy Frerichs each contributed one. Meanwhile, Pruett and Shea both served an ace.
On defense, Gabby Benson’s 17 digs were the high water mark trailed by Tyley Simmons with eight, Aliyah Harlan with seven, DeVillier with six, Rasor with four, Shea with two, and Frerichs and Jordan Simmons with one apiece.
At the net, Shea recorded seven blocks followed by Rasor with five, Tyley Simmons and Pruett with three apiece, Smith and DeVillier with two each, and Jordan Simmons with one.
Early will be back in action as it visits Tolar at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
