EARLY – The Early Lady Horns’ search for their first District 8-3A volleyball victory continues following Tuesday’s four-set home loss to Breckenridge, 25-13, 25-19, 14-25, 25-22.
In each of the three sets dropped by the Lady Horns (11-14, 0-4) they started in massive holes – 7-0 in the opener and 6-0 in the second and fourth sets. Early opened a 3-0 lead in the third set and, after Breckenridge pulled even at 4, the Lady Horns controlled the action at the rest of the way.
Aubrie DeVillier paced the Lady Horns attack with 10 kills trailed by six each from Ellie Shea and Karley Smith, four from Jensyn Rasor, two from Cassidy Frerichs, and one apiece from Grey Pruett, Tyley Simmons, Gabby Benson and Aliyah Harlan.
Frerichs dished out 16 assists while Pruett contributed four.
DeVillier served four aces followed by Benson, Shea, Frerichs and Piper Pedersen with two each, and Smith with one.
Defensively, Benson recorded 11 digs followed by 10 from DeVillier, then Shea, Frerich and Harlan with five apiece, Simmons and Pedersen with four each, Pruett with two, and Smith with one.
At the net, Shea registered four blocks followed by Rasor with two, and one apiece from Pruett, Simmons and DeVillier.
The Lady Horns return to action at 4 p.m. Friday at Eastland.
