The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of July 31:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
GOOD. Water stained; 85 degrees; 2.94 feet below pool. Black bass catches up to 6.77 pounds are Fair on Hag’s cyclone craw in Juice Box on the ledges, or with shaky heads in 6-20 feet in the habitats around the main lake and points. Crappie are fair around docks with brush on minnows in 12-18 feet. White bass to 12 inches are fair on crappie jigs, trolling crankbaits. There is some schooling action throughout the lake. Catfish are fair with catches up to 10 pounds on prepared bait on baited holes. Many reports of drum catches. Water level is starting to slowly decline.
LAKE CISCO
GOOD. Water normal stain; 81 degrees; 13.07 feet below pool. The weather has been great for fishing. Cast topwater baits into bass surfacing, jumping out of the water. Channel catfish continue to be great on perch and cutbait. Sunfish are good on worms. Largemouth bass are good on topwater lures. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.
LAKE COLEMAN
SLOW. Water stained; 80 degrees; 3.47 feet below pool. Largemouth bass are biting topwaters in the morning. Later in the day target standing timber with finesse baits. Crappie are good in Rattlesnake Cove.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 86 degrees; 31.13 feet below pool. Fish are in their full swing summertime patterns right now. Black bass are fair with catches up to 7 pounds, a couple of fish a little over 10 pounds and one over 13 pounds. Topwaters early like Whopper ploppers and walking spooks. White or silver bellies best. Spinnerbaits and the shallow brush early is working well too. As the sun rises transition to 8-18 feet on ledges, and points with timber. The trusty 10 inch worm and red bug or Plum will work, or the rage tail Thumper worm in same colors. Crappie very good suspended and deeper trees 6-18 feet best on minnows and small jigs. White bass schooling near Dam good trolling with crankbaits and rattle traps. Catfish are good in 2-10 feet with minnows, or on bottom with shrimp and stink bait. LAKE PROCTOR
SLOW. Water stained; 85 degrees; 2.88 feet below pool. Fishing is slow for all species. Catfish are good on rod-and-reel or jug lines in deep water.
