New student registration dates for Brownwood ISD are Wednesday, July 31 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, August 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the BISD Central Support Center located at 2707 Southside Dr.
Those registering their children for pre-K or kindergarten at those times should bring the child’s birth certificate, social security card, updated shots record, proof residency such as a utility bill, lease or mortgage in the parent or guardian’s name, and the parent or guardian’s photo ID.
To apply for Pre-K, the child must be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024. To be eligible for Pre-K, the child must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- The child qualifies for the BISD English as a Second Language Program
- The child is currently or has ever been in the care of DFPS
- The family host lost housing due to economic hardship
- The child is a military dependent
- The child qualifies for Medicaid, TANF, or SNAP benefits
- or The family meets income guidelines base on the number of people in the household. – Acceptable documentation includes pay stubs for all wage earners in the household for the previous month or income tax returns for 2023.
