The Brownwood Arts Association exhibits the artwork of Mary Green Engle, with features from Mike Lewis and Charlotte Garrett Cooper.
Inspired by the creativity of the women who came before her, Engle composed an ensemble of eclectic fashion that is on display at the Brownwood Arts Center until July 25th. The titles of the pieces alone clue the audience in on the graceful trade of her ancestors, which has left an impressionable mark on Engle’s art – “Carefully Curated Whimsy” as an example.
Engle’s exhibit also features the work of Charlotte Garrett Cooper where she used objects like aged cameras and film to create a plea for time to stand still, as was done in her piece “Unfocused”.
Also included in the exhibit is the ceramic artistry of Mike Lewis. His creation “leaf shadows” displays a beautifully crafted ceramic pot coated in dusty pinks and oranges with what appears to be the shadow of foliage impressed into the clay.
The public is invited to view the exhibit at the Art Center located at 215 Fisk Ave in Brownwood. Exhibit dates are July 4 – 25, 2024. Gallery hours are weekdays 2-6 pm. For more information call 325-641-2916 or email [email protected]. Their website is www.brownwoodart.net.
