The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of July 3:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
GOOD. Water normal stain; 88 degrees; 2.16 feet below pool. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Black bass to 6.06 pounds are fair on Hag’s tungsten tsunami jigs in Juice Box color and shaky heads in 6-20 feet. Crankbaits and top waters are landing bites in 2-8 feet of water. Crappie up to 12 inches are good around docks on minnows in 12-18 feet. White bass are slow, with 10-12 inch fish being caught on crankbaits and crappie jigs under the lights at night. Catfish are slow with catches up to 7 pounds on grasshoppers, worms or prepared bait and on jug lines on the main lake.
LAKE CISCO
GOOD. Water normal stain; 82 degrees; 12.44 feet below pool. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Lots of channel catfish activity hitting whatever you throw at them. Few reports from anglers on other species. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.
LAKE COLEMAN
SLOW. Water stained; 80 degrees; 2.86 feet below pool. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Expect the bite to slow, and fish to explore new submerged vegetation. Largemouth bass are biting topwaters in the morning.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 86 degrees; 30.06 feet below pool. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Black bass are fair to 10 pounds on 10 inch RageTail Thumper Worms and Hags Tornado F 6.5 inch Redbug and green pumpkin colors. Some big bass also on WhopperPloppers 8-18 feet near timber. Crappie are good suspended in tree tops near river channels. White bass are excellent at night on the main lake with minnows and jigs. Catfish still good on cut shad and chicken liver. LAKE PROCTOR
GOOD. Water stained; 85 degrees; 2.02 feet below pool. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Low flow gates are open so there is a current flowing through the gate. Lots of newly submerged vegetation for fish to be scattered in. Hybrid striped bass were restocked. Hybrids can be caught along promontory point trolling.
