During Tuesday afternoon’s meeting, Brownwood Municipal Development Director Ray Tipton told the Board of Directors that the Shoppes at Pecan Bayou will be expanding with a second strip center.

Tipton told the Board one tenant is signed for the multi-tenant site, but did not reveal further information stating the owner would be sharing that in the near future, which the City would then reveal to the public. Construction is well underway at 424 East Commerce Street.

Tipton also shared with the Board there will be an additional $390,000 in the 2024-25 fiscal year to be allocated in different areas, as the Event Center and other incentives have been paid.

Board president Daniel Hutson suggested paying off debt or replenishing the reserves, but no decisions were made and discussions will continue in the future.
