The Texas Board of Nursing confirmed the Howard Payne University nursing program’s 2023 pass rate of 100 percent on the NCLEX-RN at its April 2024 board meeting. The test is a nationwide licensing exam for nurses and provides a measurement of nursing competence. HPU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is one of only six in Texas to achieve a 100 percent pass rate on the exam.
The Texas Board of Nursing uses NCLEX-RN exam results in the evaluation process for each nursing program in Texas. The exam results are evaluated each calendar year and are officially published in April the following year. The HPU nursing program received full approval from the Texas Board of Nursing during the April 2024 board meeting.
“We are very excited to celebrate this achievement, which shows the high quality of nursing education provided in HPU’s BSN program,” shared Dr. Laci Sutton, dean of HPU’s School of Nursing. “Not only are our faculty members focused on high-quality nursing education, but they are also focused on developing our students to become faith-based nurses. I am thankful for the dedication shown by the faculty, the support from the university and I am excited for the future of our newly-licensed nurses.”
The HPU BSN program has held national nursing accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education since 2020. Among many quality indicators for a nursing program’s success identified by the National Council State Board of Nursing, HPU boasts an NCLEX-RN pass rate that fulfills standards and aims to consistently meet those standards.
Admission applications are still being accepted for the fall 2024 semester at Howard Payne University (www.hputx.edu/apply). For more information about HPU’s nursing program, visit www.hputx.edu/nursing.
