Behind a 14-1 run to start the contest the Red squad knocked off the Blue, 57-51, in Big County FCA All-Star Festival girls basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Goldthwaite’s Hope Hermesmeyer earned MVP honors for the Red as she finished with a game-high 13 points.
Also contributing to the Red’s success were Goldthwaite’s Abbey Patrick (12 points), Cisco’s Brooklyn Hurtado (8 points), Irion County’s Melanie Rainey (6 points), Abilene Wylie’s Alexis Lacroix (5 points), Goldthwaite’s Lainey Jernigan, Lipan’s Ashlyn Clark, Gordon’s Payton Reed and Panther Creek’s Jenna Jamison (3 points each), and Jim Ned’s McKenzy Morgan (1 point).
Comprising the rest of the Red team were Cora Brooks of Hamlin and Teagan King of Ballinger.
For the Blue, Jim Ned’s Lexi Wishert poured in 9 points trailed by Stamford’s Deavin Hoadley (8 points), Cisco’s Braley Brunson (7 points), Lipan’s Taylor Branson, Albany’s Kiana Roberson and San Angelo Central’s Nevaeh Hearne (5 points each), Stephenville’s Caitlyn Skiles (4 points), Brownwood’s Kimber Green, Coleman’s Katy Elder and Robert Lee’s Kailey Freeman (2 points each).
Also on the Blue roster were Avery Burns of Mason, Hailee Garmer of Roby, and Lainee LeFevre of Stamford.
