The 14u state tourney got rained out last weekend, so 14u Bombers Sheffield played in a summer showdown tournament that was put on, for teams that got rained out for the state tourney.
14u Bombers Sheffield were 3-1 in the one day tourney and ended up winning the championship. This was their 3rd tourney of the season but the two previous were cut short due to weather. The girls beat an American Freedom team to get to the ship and beat a Buzz team in the ship.
Andie Simpson and Corinne Sheffield led the team with a .625 batting average. Karsyn Bedwell and Adalynne Stephens each hit .600 on the weekend, followed by Piddle Thibodeaux and Jensen Harrower hitting .500. Maty Quick hit .375 and Aleena Ramirez and Brenda Allen .350.
The highlight of the weekend was Piddle hitting a 3 run homerun in the championship game. Maty Quick and Amarrea Thomas also hit the fence on hits and were inches from going over.
Corinne Sheffield pitched 11 innings and had 15 strikeouts. She had an ERA of 1.24. Brenda Allen pitched 3 innings with one strikeout.
14u Bombers Sheffield will play May 31-June 3rd in the Triple Crown Class A tournament in Oklahoma.
